Black Chokeberry is very hardy. It adapts to many soil types, including wet or poor soils. This makes it useful for naturalized areas and backyard plantings. In spring, it produces clusters of small white flowers. By late summer to fall, dark purple-black berries appear, and the leaves turn bright red, adding beautiful fall colour.
