Faits intéressants

Foxtail Sedge forms attractive clumps of narrow, arching green leaves. Its most distinctive feature is its cylindrical, brownish seed heads, which resemble the tail of a fox. It is an excellent choice for wet meadows, pond edges, and moist native borders. It forms clumps and is generally well behaved, rather than aggressively spreading. It can tolerate occasional flooding. It performs best when the soil remains consistently moist. While it can tolerate some shade, flowering and seed production are generally better with more sun. You can divide established clumps in spring if necessary. It can be distinguished from other Sedges (Carex species) by the leaf sheaths, which are smooth with tiny red to purple dots.

GRASP Candidate

Overlooked or difficult to grow plants (eg ghost plants, shrubs, trees, complicated germination etc); sapling sitters, seed sitters, skilled germination, growers with right conditions- aiming for local stock; these plants may not be extinct, but overlooked OR support habitat OR support a vulnerable animal/insect.
