Faits intéressants

Pignut Hickory is known for its hard, durable wood. Best grown in rich, medium moisture, well-drained soils It is primarily native to hillsides and ridges in somewhat dry soils. It needs a large space within which to grow and is generally intolerant of shade so it is best suited for large properties and parks. While it is not commonly planted for ornamental purposes, it is an excellent choice for ecological restoration, particularly in upland hardwood forests, due to its high adaptability and ecological value. It is a long-lived, hardy, and drought-tolerant tree that has a deep taproot. It is slow-growing.
