Eastern Star Sedge prefers to grow in woods, floodplain forests and pond/wetland edges. This dense, fine textured, clump forming(plant flops when mature), well behaved species makes a nice addition to the home garden. It is a cool season species that actively grows in the spring and fall when the soil temperature is cool. Seeds can be very slow to start, 6-8 weeks (patience required) and young seedlings should not be disturbed as young new roots can be easily damaged. You can consider plant division of mature plants.
