Wild Chives grown from seed can take several years before it will flower. It does not compete well with tall, aggressive plants. It does resemble the Nodding Onion but when the flowers bloom, they are more upright and star-shaped. The plant produces a strong, onion-like odour when the leaves are crushed or mowed.
