Sprengel's Sedge is a cool season sedge that actively grows in the early spring and fall. It forms neat, dense clumps offering graceful arching green foliage and nodding seed heads. It can be used in groups as groundcover in shaded garden settings, alongside later sprouting perennials or planted as borders in landscaping. It creates colonies from short rhizomes, but does not spread aggressively. This sedge can thrive in average soils and tolerate some drought, but it prefers average moisture soils. It is an excellent choice for smaller gardens in an urban setting because of its adaptability and ornamental appeal.
