Hanging Bulrush is a member of the sedge family. It has upright, triangular-to-round stems and narrow, grass-like leaves. Its distinctive flower and seed clusters hang from the upper stems, giving it its common name. Its upright form and hanging seed clusters provide attractive texture after flowering. It is an excellent choice for pond edges and naturalized wet areas. It performs best where the soil remains reliably moist. It can tolerate periods of standing water and seasonal flooding. It forms clumps and is generally well behaved to moderately vigorous. Give it room to expand in a naturalized planting.
