Spotted Jewelweed is commonly found in moist woodlands, stream edges, floodplains, and shady gardens. It produces bright orange, trumpet-shaped flowers from summer into fall. The succulent stems and leaves have a watery appearance, and raindrops often bead on the foliage, giving the plant its “jewel” name. It prefers moist soil but can grow in disturbed areas where moisture is available. Let it self-seed to have plants from year to year. It can form large colonies in suitable conditions. It is excellent for naturalized gardens and damp shady areas.
