Obedient Plant is an attractive native perennial with upright stems lined with tubular pink, lavender, or white flowers from mid to late summer. The flowers can be gently repositioned on the stem and will temporarily stay where placed, giving the plant its unusual common name. It naturally grows in moist meadows, stream edges, wet prairies, and open woodlands. It is best planted where spreading can be accommodated and can quickly fill a large area in moist, fertile soil. You can also consider a root barrier or grow it in a large container sunk into the ground if space is limited.
