Dense Blazing Star is one of the most popular native prairie flowers, producing tall spikes covered with vivid purple flowers in mid to late summer. It grows naturally in moist prairies, meadows, and open area. Its upright flower spikes make it excellent for borders and prairie plantings. It makes an excellent cut flower and may need staking in very rich soils. It will flower best in plenty of sunlight.
